North Melbourne will need to replace suspended key defender Griffin Logue for the Good Friday SuperClash after his appeal failed.
Logue's one-match suspension for bumping Hawthorn's Will Day was upheld at the Tribunal on Tuesday evening, meaning he will now miss his first game of the season.
With Ben McKay also ruled out due to bone stress, the Kangaroos will likely pluck either Aiden Bonar or Kallan Dawson from the reserves side that defeated 2022 VFL Grand Finalists Southport by eight points last weekend.
Bonar collected 17 disposals and eight marks in the upset win, while Dawson finished the day with 16 touches and five grabs.
Although North Melbourne will lose an important defensive cog, it should be able to greatly reinforce its midfield with the inclusion of co-captain Jy Simpkin and, potentially, Luke Davies-Uniacke.
Simpkin is set to return from his own one-match suspension, while Davies-Uniacke, who was a late withdraw last Saturday due to calf tightness, could also be included in the line-up providing he pulls up well this week.
Davies-Uniacke's withdrawal right before bouncedown against the Hawks opened the door for recruit Darcy Tucker to make his North Melbourne debut as the substitute.
The former Docker made an immediate impact at UTAS Stadium when he was subbed in, and could be included in the starting squad for Friday after picking up six disposals and a goal in a short period of time.
Unlikely to be included in this week's team is George Wardlaw, but the young midfielder continues to edge closer to a senior debut after another solid VFL outing that included 24 disposals, six clearances and six tackles, as he continues to build his match conditioning.
