The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos have selected Ruby Tripodi with pick No.23 in the 2023 AFLW Season 8 Supplementary Draft.
Tripodi arrives at Arden St following three seasons and back-to-back best and fairest wins in Williamstown’s VFLW side.
North Melbourne AFLW football performance and talent manager Rhys Harwood said the club was excited to give the 21-year-old an opportunity at AFLW level after impressing with her pressure and craft.
“Ruby is an outstanding person who has put significant effort into earning this opportunity, and we are thrilled to be able to give it to her,” he said.
“We have been really impressed with Ruby’s performances at VFLW level over a long period of time, winning the last two best and fairest awards for Williamstown, and the development she has shown in the first two rounds of this season.
“Ruby has attributes we feel will transition well to into our system as both a midfielder and forward. She has strong craft around stoppages and congestion and is creative by hand in tight. Her capacity to pressure and compete in a defensive sense are also attributes we value highly.
“We know she is a player and person who will leave no stone unturned in pushing her case for selection and making the most of this opportunity.
“We look forward to welcoming her to the club.”
Tripodi is the sixth new Roo ahead of the 2023 AFLW season, joining key forward Kate Shierlaw, defensive duo Lucinda Pullar and Eliza Shannon, ruck Elizabeth McGrath and Irish recruit Niamh Martin.
