North Melbourne's Griffin Logue expects a fiery reception from Fremantle fans in his return to Optus Stadium on Saturday night.
Logue wore the Dockers' purple and white in 64 games over six years before he pursued a move to North Melbourne at the end of last season.
A natural stopper who spent most of 2022 in the forward line, he felt his position in the team was too precarious with Alex Pearce, Brennan Cox and Luke Ryan settled in the key defensive posts.
"I know they're real passionate fans, they were great when I was there," he told reporters in Perth on Friday
"They have every right to treat me the way they want … (and) it's the first home game for Freo so I'm sure it will be loud.
"The more fans the better."
Having spent so long at Fremantle, the West Australian admits he's happy the fixture has come so early in his first season with the Kangaroos.
"It's something that was weighing on me," he reflected.
"If it was in the back-end of the season I'd be thinking about it a bit.
"At the end of the day it's another game, but it's nice to get it out of the way early and look to put on a good performance."
The 24-year-old says he's particularly excited to match up on dual-Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe and two-time Fremantle leading goalkicker Matt Taberner.
"I lived with them both in my early years, and 'Tabs' for the last 18 months before I moved over," he grinned.
"So that'd be great, but even with anyone (else) it'll be funny to run past and get stuck into them a bit.
"I've got good relationships with a lot of them, so it's going to be different but I'm excited for it."
