Young North Melbourne defender Miller Bergman has signed a two-year contract extension to remain at the club until at least the end of 2025.

A lifelong Roos fan, Bergman was taken from the Dandenong Stingrays with pick No.38 in the 2021 AFL national draft, impressing recruiters with his decision-making and efficiency.

The 20-year-old made his AFL debut in Round 7 last year against Carlton, but both his day and season ended early after suffering a shoulder injury during the second quarter. His second appearance in the blue and white saw him feature in the side’s thrilling five-point win over West Coast last weekend.

North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said it was exciting to lock away another key member of the club’s future.

“We are rapt to have an up-and-coming player like Miller commit to the club for a further two seasons,” Rawlings said.

“During his time at Arden St, Miller has impressed with his professional attitude, willingness to learn and composure with the ball.

“We look forward to watching him continue his development at the club over the next couple of years.”

Bergman is the second young Roo to put pen to paper this week, with Round 1 Rising Star nominee Harry Sheezel also committing to the club for a further two seasons on Tuesday.
