North Melbourne forward Jed Anderson is expected to make his return to VFL within the next fortnight.

Anderson, who injured his hamstring in the season-opener against Adelaide, is likely to line up in Werribee colours either this week, or next.

North Director of Football Geoff Walsh told NMFC.com.au the 22-year-old was looking forward to making his comeback.

“Jed’s a natural competitor and is itching to get back into it, but whether that’s this week or next, we’ll have to see how he trains this week,” Walsh said.

“He’s been very professional throughout his recovery program.”

Meanwhile, Todd Goldstein is a likely starter against the Cats this Saturday, after overcoming a knee issue that forced him out of North’s win over the Tigers in Hobart.

“As we said on Friday night, ‘Goldy’ was not far off from taking his place in the game at Blundstone Arena but ultimately wasn’t 100 per cent fit,” Walsh said.

“He’s already taken part in training early this week and assuming there are no unexpected hiccups over the next few days, we expect him to be available to take on Geelong.”

Walsh confirmed young guns Taylor Garner and Mitchell Hibberd got through their VFL returns unscathed.

“Both Taylor and Mitch made solid returns for Werribee and pleasingly, have pulled up extremely well,” Walsh added.
