North Melbourne will begin the club’s era under senior coach Alastair Clarkson in front of the Kangaroos faithful against West Coast at Marvel Stadium in 2023.

Clarkson and Adam Simpson, who shared spots on the Roos’ list in 1994-95, will go head-to-head under the roof on a Saturday afternoon in Round 1.

The club’s opening round clash will be the first of seven home games at Marvel Stadium, with other fixtures against Carlton on Good Friday, St Kilda, Sydney, Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Essendon.

Members and supporters will have the opportunity to see the Kangaroos a total of 10 times at Marvel Stadium, including seven home games and three away matches.

Tasmanian fans will see the Kangaroos live five times across the season, including four home games at Blundstone Arena in Hobart and a bonus match against Hawthorn in Round 3 at UTAS Stadium, Launceston.

The team will travel once to the Gold Coast, twice to Adelaide and twice to Perth, a state with a strong Kangaroos supporter base.

“This is a great fixture from both a football and fan perspective,” North Melbourne acting chief executive officer Chris Simmonds said.

“Our year gets off to an exciting start with Alastair Clarkson’s first game as senior coach in front of our fans at Marvel Stadium.

“We have a mix of great opponents at our Melbourne home venue across the year and two big games against successful clubs at the MCG in Melbourne and Richmond.

“The array of opponents at our Melbourne home games is a commercially positive result for our club.

“We have again secured four home games at our home away from home in Tasmania and we encourage our fans to head to Hobart at some stage across the season.”
