North Melbourne has welcomed three-time premiership player Liam Shiels to the club under the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period rule.
Shiels, who played 255 games in Hawthorn colours – including the 2013, 2014 and 2015 premierships – retired from the game in August after 14 seasons.
The 31-year-old arrives at Arden Street as he looks to add another chapter to his illustrious career. The move also reunites Shiels with his former senior coach, Alastair Clarkson.
Due to an ACL injury suffered in August whilst playing for the Murray Bushrangers, 18-year-old draftee Brayden George has been moved to the inactive list, clearing a spot for the addition of Shiels.
Shiels becomes the 10th new player North Melbourne has added to its playing group this off-season.
The club recruited Fremantle duo Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker during the AFL Trade Period and took a combined number of eight picks into the national and rookie drafts.
Harry Sheezel (pick 3), George Wardlaw (pick 4), Brayden George (pick 26) and Cooper Harvey (pick 56) were welcomed to the club on Monday and Tuesday, while Blake Drury, Hamish Free, former Hawk Daniel Howe and Kayne Turner have all been rookie-listed.
