Superstar midfielder Jas Garner has narrowly missed out on the Season 7 AFL Players' Association MVP Award, finishing behind Richmond's Monique Conti, while forward Vikki Wall cracked the top five in Best First Year Player voting.
MVP voting begins with each player voting for the three teammates they consider to have been the most valuable this season.
Each club’s votes are then tallied to form a nomination list, with 54 players across the 18 teams nominated for the award.
Garner's runner-up finish came one night on from the W Awards where she was rewarded with a fifth straight All-Australian blazer as well as captaincy of the side after a dominant Season 7 campaign.
A classy and clever footballer, Garner ranked first in the AFLW for inside 50s per game (5.2) and again played a pivotal role in North Melbourne's midfield all season long.
Irish import Vikki Wall was also recognised by her competition peers as one of the best first-year players in Season 7.
Wall, who played all 13 games for the Kangaroos in her debut campaign, came fifth in the voting behind Eilish Sheerin (Richmond), Jasmine Fleming (Hawthorn), Abbey Dowrick (Port Adelaide) and Rylie Wilcox (Western Bulldogs).
Despite being new to the sport, Wall adapted smoothly to the game's style and was able to bring her unique blend of speed strength to the forefront, which quickly became a problem for opposition defenders attempting to shut her down.
She booted six goals for the season, including two against the Cats in difficult conditions back in Round 4.
