Taylah Gatt, the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos' first selection in the 2022 AFL Women's Draft, has quickly become a key role-player during her debut season at Arden Street.

Taken with the 28th pick, the Dandenong Stingrays product has an impressive combination of speed, agility and endurance in her arsenal which allows her to break lines and step around defenders.

She has shown these attributes all throughout Season 7, while simultaneously completing her year 12 studies as an 18-year-old.

Gatt has only recently finished up her exams and gave a clear-cut response when asked about whether she ever thought about stepping away from footy for those couple of weeks to focus on study.

"To be honest, not really," Gatt told North Media.

"I kind of always wanted to push through the season and exams and manage both.

"It's been a bit tough at times but doing both has definitely been worth it considering how rewarding being able to play in the AFLW is."

In a season that has seen Gatt play every game and North Melbourne challenge all of the best sides of the competition, the young winger has held her own averaging 6.4 disposals, two tackles and 89.4 metres gained per game, all while learning from some of the best in the League in the process.

"I think everyone in the team has been a terrific role model for me," Gatt said.

"Ash (Riddell) and 'Jammin' (Jas Garner) have been two players I've especially tried to learn from."

Last week's sudden-death match against the Cats saw some of the Kangaroos feature in an AFLW final for the first time ever as the side booked a spot in a semi-final.

Gatt collected five touches and laid a tackle at GMHBA Stadium on a night that was significantly difficult for outside ball users to get involved, but the moment the final siren sounded is one she'll never forget.

"I've never won a final like that," Gatt mentioned.

"It was pretty special and being able to celebrate with the girls was a really cool and fulfilling experience."

With a high ceiling, Gatt is sure to continue growing towards being one of the League's perennial wingers and one of North Melbourne's most important players.

North Melbourne will face off with Richmond at the Swinburne Centre on Saturday in semi-final action at 1.40pm AEDT.
