With plenty of momentum behind them, the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos will set out to claim a double chance at Arden Street Oval when they host Richmond in a finals series appetiser.

If North Melbourne is to seal its fate as a top four side though, it will need to extinguish Richmond's seven-game winning run that includes a four-point victory over league-leaders Brisbane.

The Kangaroos are themselves on a two-game winning streak, having most recently defeated Collingwood by 32 points in a dominant display.

Darren Crocker's side produced some of the best football it has played all year at Victoria Park, most evident in the second term when the Roos booted five unanswered goals in just over 15 minutes.

Richmond was just as dominant in its Round 9 clash, having thumped GWS by 43 points in Mildura to climb into the top four.

A win for the Tigers on Sunday will see them into the top four, while the Kangaroos even if successful will rely on ladder leaders Brisbane to get over Collingwood on Friday night.

The loser will play off in an elimination final which is likely to be away from home for the Roos, should they fail to win their third game in a row.

While the impending changes to the top eight hold most of the narrative heft heading into this one, here are three more things to keep an eye on.

Doing the Wright things

Like North Melbourne, Sarah Wright is hitting her stride at the right time of the season.

The key defender has been one of the side's most consistent performers in Season 7, and has recently elevated her game to another next level.

Wright recorded 10 disposals and a career-high 13 intercepts against the Pies which landed her a spot in the AFLW Round 9 Team of the Week side, alongside teammates Jas Garner and Tahlia Randall.

Not only does Wright possess the ability to read the ball in flight and constantly win her one-on-one battles, but she is often creating avenues for her teammates to rebound from defence through her disposal and spread.

She will be tested again on Sunday against a Richmond side that contains plenty scoring power, but the defender has risen to every occasion thus far.

Rampaging Roos

The side hasn't been known for its amazing tackle numbers this season, but the Kangaroos knuckled down to overwhelm Collingwood with their attitude and intent when they weren't in possession of the ball.

North Melbourne laid 82 tackles in Round 9 – a season-high for the team – and a staggering 19 of those came inside forward 50.

Midfielder Jenna Bruton and winger Amy Smith led the way with nine each, while the trio of Nicole Bresnehan, Vikki Wall and Jasmine Ferguson notched six apiece.

It was an outstanding effort from the Roos who were primarily in control of possession throughout the afternoon.

If they can put a similar amount of heat on the Tigers this weekend, it will go a long way to securing the four points.

A must-watch battle within a must-watch battle

If, for some reason, the fixture between two in-form clubs fighting for a spot in the top four wasn't intriguing enough, the looming encounter between arguably the best two players in the competition is sure to make it so.

North Melbourne's Jasmine Garner and Richmond's Monique Conti, currently sitting first and second on the AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award leaderboard with 66 and 54 votes respectively, will square off for the first since Round 6 last season.

Kangaroos star Garner will be coming off a 27-disposal, five-clearance and one-goal performance while Conti will enter Round 10 after gathering 24 touches, eight tackles and three goals against the Giants.

Garner and Conti lead their club in clearances, contested possessions, disposals, inside 50s and score involvements which shows just how influential they are each week.

There will be exciting matchups all over the park come Sunday, but this one will undoubtedly receive the most attention from viewers, and for good reason.
