Emma Kearney will lead the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos for a fifth straight season after being reappointed captain ahead of season 7.
Kearney has captained the Kangaroos since her side’s entry into the AFLW competition in 2019.
The only player to be named an All-Australian in every season of the AFLW competition, Kearney was named captain of the season 6 All-Australian side earlier this year.
Kearney will be supported by six teammates who were voted into the leadership group by their peers on Monday night.
Emma King and Jasmine Garner have been named co-vice captains. Garner has been elevated to vice-captain for the first time after a stellar season 6 where she was named an All-Australian for a fourth straight season.
Sarah Wright and Ellie Gavalas have been added to the leadership group for the first time, while Ash Riddell and Nicole Bresnehan round out the seven-woman leadership group.
Danielle Hardiman made the decision to step away from her role in the leadership group prior to the players' vote.
“We are really fortunate as a club to have these players leading our group into season 7,” North Melbourne’s Head of AFLW Nathan Hrovat said.
“This group, led by our outstanding captain Emma Kearney, set standards, lead by example and epitomise the values of our club.
“We are thrilled to see both Sarah Wright and Ellie Gavalas join the group. Both have made a significant impact to our AFLW program on-field and more broadly amongst their teammates. Their election into the leadership group is well deserved.”
The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos kick off their season 7 campaign against the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday, August 27 at Blundstone Arena, Hobart where entry will be free.
