After making his name as a flying winger/half forward at Gold Coast, Aaron Hall has gone through something of a career re-birth over the last two seasons at North Melbourne.

Now plying his trade in the back half of the ground, the veteran defender has emerged as one of the classiest ball-users in the competition, and his offensive output in the Round 15 clash with Adelaide was, quite literally, unrivalled.

While his 38 disposals, five score involvements and six intercepts were impressive enough, it was his brutal willingness to power the ball forward at every opportunity where he really shone, and he set a new AFL record for metres gained in one game with an astonishing 1169.

Hall takes the record from previous holder Joel Bowden, who racked up 1153 metres gained from 44 disposals in Round 4, 2009.

Hawthorn's Chad Wingard held the previous record for active players, having registered 1037 metres gained in Round 15, 2017 while still playing for Port Adelaide.

Hall has averaged 645.7 metres gained per game across seven contests so far in 2022, enough to be second in the competition behind Richmond's Jayden Short.
