Although the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos are the only unbeaten side left in the competition, they may have met their match, according to Adelaide AFLW senior coach Matthew Clarke.

“They’re pretty balanced, both sides are actually,” he told The Advertiser.

“They’re (the Roos) undefeated with a percentage over 200 so their forward line is pretty strong, it should be a great game.

“Around the ball, they’ve got some great midfielders and clearly Emma King’s a really strong target for them down forward and Jessica Duffin in the back half’s been really influential in the first few games, so they are quite balanced and therefore (we will) have to be good in all areas.”

Despite sitting atop of Conference A after a hard-fought battle with Melbourne last weekend, it doesn’t get any easier for North.

In its second Victorian-based game, North will host a determined Crows’ outfit that has shown resilience, winning three consecutive games since dropping the season opener to the Bulldogs by a point.

Having managing a squad that has faced a series of changes through both suspension and injury, including the likes of Chloe Scheer and Courtney Cramey, Clarke is eager to reward the players that have stepped up in recent weeks.

“The team that played against Fremantle was a pretty strong performance and I’m keen to reward that,” he explained.

Clarke admits that something has to give in a match between the two top-scoring sides, citing the importance of winning the footy in and around stoppages.

“Usually, these games swing on the contest,” he said.

“Who’s better at the contest both at stoppage and then ahead and behind the ball so that’s the starting point for most games.”
