Richmond is likely to welcome back several key players ahead of its clash against North Melbourne on Sunday.

Daniel Jackson (suspended) and Dustin Martin (club sanction) are ready to return, while ruckman Ivan Maric and fellow tall Ben Griffiths will be tested during the week after both were late withdrawals on Saturday.

“We were quite hopeful that, after the weekend, and not playing the game, they (Maric and Griffiths) would come in today (Monday) and look pretty good, and that’s the case, which is great,” Tigers’ Elite Performance Manager Matthew Hornsby said.

“We’ll train them Tuesday and see how they cope with that, and again Thursday, and make a decision a bit later in the week on those two guys.”

One player Richmond will be without is Jake Batchelor who injured his knee in the loss to the Suns.

The Tigers confirmed he’d suffered ‘just a bit of bone bruising’, but would be ruled out of the must-win Round 17 game.

Chris Newman is expected to be available, despite copping a heavy knock and being forced to the bench in the final term.

“He’s fine. After the game, he’d recovered pretty well.

He was obviously fairly groggy for a little bit there, but so far early this week, he looks like he’s recovered quite quickly.”
