His 34 disposal, 2 goal effort was enough to earn him overall best-on-ground honours against the Saints, but Leigh Adams stole the top votes from one of the coaches.
Adams was particularly impressive in the first quarter, just one highlight was his huge bump on Saint Sam Fisher which resulted in an unlikely goal. He finished with 32 possessions and two goals for the day.
Also among the votes was Todd Goldstein (three votes) who amassed 41 hit-outs and gathered 18 possessions against Ben McEvoy. Michael Firrito’s terrific performance down back saw him take home two votes, while Nathan Grima was also recognised for his shutdown job on Nick Riewoldt.
Wells now has 35 votes for the season, ahead of Andrew Swallow (32) and Brent Harvey (25).
