As North Melbourne's players work hard to impress new coach Brad Scott at pre-season training, kangaroos.com.au will be providing you will all the latest news from Arden Street.

In a new special feature we will be catching up with every player on the Roos' list in the lead up to 2010. We'll track their movements, find out their goals and provide exclusive photos and videos.

Starting with guernsey number 1, Spotlight On looks at the progress of Hamish McIntosh.

Hamish, tell us how you approach every pre-season training session?

I just want to improve in every session. I'm 25 years old and have still got plenty of improvement left in my body so that's the main thing, and I just want to get to a really high level in my fitness so that my game can go to that next level.

Are you excited about 2010?

The club is young and vibrant and it is really an exciting time to be at North Melbourne. We've got such a young list now and who knows what could happen next year. If all the young guys keep improving and have great pre-seasons there's no reason why we can't play finals footy again.

It’s not all just hype and spin when we hear about the excitement at the club is it?

It's not at all. You just have to look at some of the young guys around with Jack Ziebell having another pre-season under his belt, Todd Goldstein pushing through in the ruck, Sam Wright getting a bit more size into his body. There are plenty of other young guys coming through too like Robbie Tarrant and Marcus White so when those guys get another one or two pre-seasons behind them it's going to be a pretty exciting time ahead. For me, I have to keep improving my game to make sure I keep my spot in the side because the challenges are coming from everywhere.
