Trade Winds: September 29
Mitch Clark is close to a decision as Dayne Beams firms for a Lions move
The on-field action has finished for another season, but off the field the action is hotting up with trade rumours already swirling.
Dayne Beams looks more like becoming a Lion, Mitch Clark has a big decision to make and young Giant Kristian Jaksch is deciding between a couple of Melbourne clubs.
Clark down to Cats or Pies
The future of Mitch Clark now appears to be a race in two, with the troubled Melbourne forward deciding between Collingwood and Geelong, The Age reports.
Clark retired from football in April, suffering clinical depression, but has recovered and spent a second day in Geelong on Sunday as he weighs up his options.
The 26-year-old played alongside Cats coach Chris Scott with the Brisbane Lions after being drafted in 2005.
It is believed Clark is favouring lifestyle over money in any decision on his future.
Beams more and more likely a Lion
Collingwood midfielder Dayne Beams is increasingly likely to become a Brisbane Lion after Gold Coast withdrew from the race for his services and Beams knocked back another Magpies attempt to retain him.
Beams declared last week he wanted to return to his southeast Queensland home, but the Suns don't have the salary cap room to compete for the 2012 All Australian, The Age reports.
The 24-year-old met with Collingwood president Eddie McGuire and coach Nathan Buckley again last week, the Herald Sun says, but despite giving him a cooling off period to reconsider, he is unlikely to change his mind.
Buckley told ABC Radio it was now up to the Lions to come up with a suitable trade, and suggested they could start with the likes of Pearce Hanley.
"We see it as an early pick, plus a player," he said.
Decision time for Jaksch
It has come down to either Carlton or St Kilda for Greater Western Sydney forward Kristian Jaksch.
After declaring he wanted to return to his Melbourne home, the 194cm forward taken at No.12 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft has both the Blues and Saints keen on him.
Jaksch has gone away for a week to make his decision, The Age says.
