North Melbourne’s players will face their first test on-field for the new season during an intra-club match at Eureka Stadium on February 7.

The match will be the final event during the club’s fourth visit to the Ballarat region as part of the AFL’s Australia Post Community Camp.

Last year’s corresponding fixture drew a crowd of thousands, and it’s expected there’ll be a similar turn-out this year as some of the club’s newest additions are pitted against the more experienced campaigners.

Brad McKenzie, Max Warren and several other draftees will be put through their paces for the first time as they look to impress senior coach Brad Scott, and with spots in the team on the line before the opening NAB Cup match on February 17 there’s sure to be plenty of intense competition.

Scott and the entire playing squad will join Ballarat Mayor Cr Mark Harris for a civic reception before the camp kicks off, with several visits to local primary schools as well as forums for local junior players and coaches scheduled throughout the two day visit.

North Melbourne will return to Eureka Stadium on March 11 to take on the Bulldogs in the third round of the NAB Cup.

More details on the club’s community camp and intra-club match will be posted in the coming weeks on kangaroos.com.au.
