Star duo just the trick
Lydia Lassila and Ricky Ponting will be special guests of the Roos in Round 1.
The pair will be keynote speakers at North's official match day Chairman's function on March 21st.
"We're making a concerted effort to revamp our Chairman's functions this year and really give our guests a superior match-day experience," North
CEO Carl Dilena told NMFC.com.au.
"By adding internationally renowned celebrities and sportspeople the quality of Ricky and Lydia, we're bringing a totally new dynamic into the room and one we know our guests will get a lot out of."
Lassila, an aerial skier, won Bronze at the recent Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, was a Gold medallist at Vancouver's 2010 games and collected Silver at the World Cup in China in 2007. Ponting is celebrated as a legend of Australian sport, an Allan Border medallist and, most importantly, a devout North Melbourne supporter. The Kangaroos' match day event will be the only opportunity to hear from this prestigious pair side by side.
"Ricky and Lydia have accomplished so much in their respective fields and we are delighted to have them attend our game as special guests and keynote speakers," Dilena added.
Throughout the event, Lassila will share her inspirational journey which includes overcoming two ruptured ACL's to win her first Gold medal while
Ponting will provide incredible insight into his illustrious career as an international cricketer.
"We won't hold the fact Lydia is a Bombers' fan against her of course," Dilena joked.
This event is not to be missed and will be the perfect way to start the 2014 football season.
