North Melbourne has added Tom Murphy and Gordon Narrier to its list following the 2017 Rookie Draft.
Murphy, a Dandenong Stingrays’ product, was selected with pick No.4 and has the ability play all three zones according to North’s national recruiting manager Mark Finnigan.
“He’s a good rebounding defender with a penetrating kick that can also go through the midfield and push forward,” Finnigan said.
“We were able to get a good look at Tom recently when he trained here at Arden Street with our VFL squad.
“His mix of speed and endurance was very appealing to us and we think his long kick can really open the game up.”
With its second pick, No.20, North selected exciting outside midfielder/forward Gordon Narrier from the Perth Demons.
“Gordon represented WA at the Nationals as a 19-year-old and has excellent speed and ground coverage,” Finnigan said.
Boasting extraordinary pace, Narrier booted 15 goals in 17 WAFL appearances.
“He comes to us with senior footy experience and will bring some more x-factor to our list.
“We’re really delighted with today’s additions with Tom and Gordon joining us and feel that they really complement our selections from Friday night.”
