While there have been four premierships in North Melbourne’s history, each just as memorable, perhaps one stands out for its uniqueness.
1996 was the 100th year of the VFL/AFL competition, and to mark the occasion the league issued a gold premiership cup for the first and only time in history.
After North defeated Sydney in the decider at the MCG, it was back to Arden Street for the celebrations.
The memories forever live on with the pictures from the afternoon, as the likes of Wayne Carey, Corey McKernan, Glenn Archer and company celebrated in front of their loyal fans.
The gold cup now sits proudly at Arden Street alongside the 1975, 1977 and 1999 trophies.
