Small forward Kayne Turner says he has shown enough in the past fortnight to suggest he can play a big role in North's forward line for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old, who has featured in the Roos' last two games, kicked the Blackwoods Goal of the Week with a snap from the outside of his right boot in the second quarter of North's 25-point win over Essendon last Friday night.
Turner said he was in the right position to drill that goal after studying the Bombers' backline closely with his fellow teammate Lindsay Thomas.
"During the week I watched (my) likely opponents and match-ups that I might get," Turner told NMFC.com.au on Tuesday.
"I went through that with Lindsay because he's played a lot on those blokes and he said, 'They like to come off and try to impact the contest'.

"So when it was kicked in, I saw (Ben) Brown coming out and you're always going to get a contest from 'Browny'. He did exactly that, brought it down to ground and luckily it fell straight to me and I finished it off."
Turner's goal came at a crucial time for North, who was trailing by 14 points with just over five minutes remaining before half-time.
"We were down in the game and I hadn't done a whole lot up until then so I was just happy to have an impact on the scoreboard as well as around the ground," Turner said.
"The main focus for me coming back into the seniors was trying to get more offensive output.
"I love kicking goals and it's definitely a confidence booster for me, it gets you involved in the game a lot more, especially for us small forwards who might not get as many opportunities each week."
The youngster finished with seven disposals, an equal season-high five tackles and two goals in the win over the Bombers.
Turner acknowledged he would have liked to find more of the ball but was confident his form warranted more games in the senior team.
"I feel like I've done, probably not to my best ability, but I've done what I need to to stay in," he said.
"It's just important for me to keep playing that pressure role and being that forward that really wants to chase and tackle and do all the right things."
After being omitted after the side's round nine loss to Collingwood, Turner took part in the next four games for VFL affiliate Werribee.
The 180cm livewire said he was pleased to have forced his way back into the senior squad after fellow small forward Robbie Nahas was a late withdrawal against Geelong with hamstring soreness.
"It's always nice to come back in some big games and be able to play a part for the team," he said.
"I'm trying to knuckle down on what I need to do at training and in games to make sure that when I do get the opportunity, I make things work in the senior games.
"A lot of it stems from VFL level, just really putting in the effort and spending plenty of time with the development coaches."
Turner said he also had to find a way to stay "relevant to the contest" and his forward pressure acts would help him maintain his spot in the side.
"I really like to focus on that tackle pressure and trying to keep the ball in our forward half which has been big for us in the last couple of weeks," he said.
Turner said he was eager to run out with the team this Saturday night against the Brisbane Lions in Brent 'Boomer' Harvey's 400th game.
"It's a great achievement by Boomer, it's going to be a big night and I'm sure he'll have plenty of family and friends there," he said.
"It'd be very special to be a part of it so hopefully I'm lucky enough to be out there this weekend."
