North Melbourne is set to have close to a full list to choose from throughout the NAB Challenge, with just three players sidelined by injury.
Lachlan Hansen (hips), Nathan Grima (back) and Aaron Mullett (shoulder) are the only Kangaroos facing extended spells on the sidelines.
The absence of Hansen, expected to miss four weeks, could open the door for the likes of Joel Tippett and Daniel Nielson in the coming weeks.
"Once upon a time we would have been pretty worried if we were missing Hansen and Grima, but we've got a new-found depth and I think we'll be fine (without Hansen),” defender Michael Firrito said on Friday.
North won’t be taking any risks with its injured star.
“Lachie’s obviously missed a lot of the pre-season, and a player of his calibre won’t be rushed back in,” Director of Football Geoff Walsh said.
“We are keen to get him back for the early part of the season, so will concentrate his rehabilitation on that.”
Mullett is set to miss the next 12 weeks with a shoulder injury, while Grima faces another 12-14 weeks on the sidelines.
