Daniel Wells has emerged unscathed from a concerning collision in his first game in three months.

Playing for North Ballarat, Wells attempted a kick early in the third quarter but his leg met the shin of Geelong's Dom Gleeson. The Kangaroos' midfielder immediately hobbled off but fears were allayed when it was revealed there was no damage to his own shin.

Wells is expected to be available for selection next week.

Earlier for the Roosters, Wells looked sharp.

"It felt good to get back out there," he told NMFC.com.au.

"I didn't feel the foot out there at all, which was the main thing I was worried about.

"I was nervous with the whole buildup and getting back in to the routine of playing."

Conditions were tough for all players, let alone one returning from such a long layoff. With intermittent showers followed by sunshine and then heavy rain, all four seasons were experienced at Eureka Stadium.

However playing through those struggles may have actually helped Wells.

"It wasn't one of those days where it was dry and everyone was running around everywhere," he said.

"It was pretty slippery out there and it was good to get through it. I felt better in the second half as well before I hurt myself."

It was the first time Wells had been involved with North Ballarat for many years. Unsurprisingly he enjoyed his surroundings.

"It's a great club, they look after us a treat. When you come back, you feel a part of the club.

"They're very welcoming and we've got a great relationship with North Ballarat."

Development Manager Ben Dyer was also impressed with Wells' half of action.

"He was playing on ball and pushing forward as well. He looked dynamic at stoppages as well."
