Rookies are the lifeblood of any AFL Fantasy Classic team, allowing coaches to fill their squad with cheap options who should increase in value over the course of the year. As these players rise in price, we can then upgrade them to better performers and improve the overall team.
The defensive position is generally the hardest to fill when it comes to rookies. It’s rare first-year defenders get enough of the footy to be valuable fantasy contributors, and defenders generally score less than other positions.
This year, there is a mix between promising first-year options and some cheap mature-aged defenders that we will look to round out our team with.
