Nathan Grima is the latest player to secure his future at North Melbourne, signing a one-year deal with the club.

Coming out of contract, the 28-year-old was expected to attract interest from rival clubs, but says he had no hesitation continuing his career at Aegis Park.

“I love being at the club and never had an intention of going elsewhere,” Grima told NMFC.com.au.

“It’s great to be here for another 12 months at this stage and hopefully beyond. It’s great that the club have shown faith in me to have another year."

The defender has played 17 games of a possible 21 in 2013, but admits it’s been an up-and-down year personally.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a failed year by any stretch, because I’ve got on the park and played most of the season, but I think the supporters do expect more from me and so do the coaching staff,” he added.

“My biggest aim now is to sign this contract, get fit and aim to play every game next year, which I’ve never done before, and play finals footy with this club.

“We should be playing finals footy this year, and we’re not.”
